Dear ………,
Model Answer 1:
Dear Mr Marconi,
I am so delighted to be recruited as a Project Manager in your organisation. I am supposed to start from 1st November, but due to some unavoidable problems, it will take two more weeks. I am hoping that you would be kind enough to consider my situation and allow me to start from 15th November.
My last day with my current employer should have been on 25th October. I have almost finished my tasks on hand and have trained the newly recruited employee so that my transition does not cause any problem. However, my office management has recently requested me to work on a new project that would take me another two weeks. They are so convinced that I should work on this last project and I could not turn their request down.
Considering the circumstance, and since I did not have an alternative, I am writing to request you to let me start my office from 15th of the next month. I would be much obliged to your kind consideration.
I am hoping to hear from you soon regarding this.
Yours faithfully,
Natasa Holmes
Sample Answer 2:
Dear Ms Juliana,
I am so happy to have been offered the Junior Executive post in your company. However, I am writing to seek your permission to begin my work with you from 10th July instead of 1st July due to some dilemmas.
I have recently finished my graduation and currently, work for my uncle’s parcel business. Unfortunately, he has had a minor accident and had to get admitted to a hospital, leaving me in charge of his business. The doctor said he can leave the hospital in a couple of days and start working after a week or so. The circumstance forces me to work for him for another week.
I realise this will be inconvenient for you, but I am hoping that you would be prepared to allow me to take up the position with you 10 days later than planned. I would like to emphasise that I remain very keen to work with you, and will see you on 10th July.
I look forward to hearing a response from you soon.
Yours faithfully,
Peter Logan
Dear Mr David,
I am writing this letter to request to postpone my appointment date at your company which is confirmed on Friday, next week, due to the grave situation of one of my close relatives.
My maternal uncle got severely injured by an accident yesterday, and he was hospitalized by the neighbours. The hospital, in which he has been admitted, is far away from my house. Most of his neighbours informed me to arrive in the hospital as his situation is very critical. Besides, his sons and daughters are abroad, and he hasn’t got anyone there to take care of him. So, I have decided to go there and attend him.
I think I have to stay there until his youngest son gets here. I have a huge responsibility to take care of him because he is the one who has paid for my college and university education.
I would grateful to you if you could understand my situation and permit me to attend my work from 23rd September, which is Monday of the last week of that month. This would be a huge favour.
Thanking you in advance.
Yours faithfully,
Ewa Patrick
