GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample # 64
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
Write a letter to invite your English-speaking friend, who lives in the same city you live in, to watch a new film/movie with you about your country.
Write a letter to him/her. In the letter:
- include some information about the film/movie
- explain why your friend might be interested to watch the film/movie
- inform other arrangements you will be making for watching the film/movie
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Dear George,
Hope you are doing excellent. I have been planning to do it for quite some times, but I just didn’t manage to do it because of my busy schedule. In fact, I am planning to invite you to learn a little about the independence struggle history of my country (about which you showed your interest) by watching a very good movie with me this weekend.
I am sure you will enjoy the movie and I will try to explain things to you if you like. The movie is called (…mention a movie name here…) and it was made in 1969, and it was directed by one of the best film directors of that time. The unique thing about this film is that it was made during a time when our liberation war was being fought in full force by our brave soldiers. It is considered the finest war movie ever made in our country and it explains a lot about our liberation war and history.
I am pretty confident that watching this movie will answer many of your questions that you may have regarding my country’s history and culture. It is a long movie and having that in my mind, I have made arrangements for some light refreshments as well as some traditional food dishes from my country, to be served at the end our movie time which, I am pretty sure, you will enjoy.
