Model Answer:
Dear Scot,
I am so delighted to receive your letter after a while but I am also sad to hear that you are having a tough time to get on with your new job which you are very enthusiastic about. I feel really bad as I can relate the exact experience that you are going through. But don’t you worry, it will be over soon.
I can still recall very clearly how my superior asked me to work at night shift one day despite my job agreement to work from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. And after working for a few times at night, my manager unofficially made it permanent for me. I had to take my children to school early in the morning and due to my job at night, I could neither sleep well not manage my social and family life. It was a disaster. From your letter, I can feel that you are also going through this unfortunate phase.
As a solution, I would ask you to talk to your manager. You would be surprised how an open conversation at the office can solve so many problems. If this does not work, you can talk to higher management or can even consider changing your job.
I wish you all the best. Take care.
Warm wishes,
William
