Nowadays people are less fit and less healthy than people were in the past, which could affect their long term health. Why do you think this is? What can be done to solve this problem?

It is undeniable that people today are less fit and less salubrious compared to the past generations resulting in long-term effects on health. This essay will first suggest that the phenomenon is stemmed from modern lifestyle habits and food choices, and then submit changing lifestyles and dietary habits as the most viable solutions.
Several factors such as eating habits, sedentary nature of work, and leisure pursuits, contribute to this situation. For a start, people, nowadays, eat too much junk food enriched with trans fat, sugar, and other toxic ingredients. Consequently, this unhealthy food habit lowers the body’s resistance to diseases. Coupled with eating habits, the sedentary form of jobs is another key factor. Today, workers spend large sums of working hours sitting at a desk causing lower energy expenditure than gain. To cap it all, the hectic pace of modern life leaves people physically and mentally exhausted. In consequence, they are decidedly reluctant to engage in any form of physical activity, and thereby decreasing physical stamina.
People need to change their lifestyle and food habits in order to solve the issue and take control of their wellbeing. First of all, instead of engineered food, people ought to increase their intake of whole grains or high-fibre meals, like fruits, vegetables, salads, oats and so forth. This provides lots of nutritional value to their meals, which in turn, reduce grave risks of disease, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiac arrest and obesity to name but a few. In addition to this, individuals should engage in some form of regular physical activity. A case in point is exercise. It can reduce stress, improve sleep, prevent obesity, and boost the immune system.
To conclude, modern lifestyle, which is mostly sedentary in nature, and food intake affect body fitness. In turn, people are more likely to be prone to diseases than ever before. Which is why we should try to get into good habits coupled with an active lifestyle and healthy meals to solve this problem.
