Model Answer:
Computers and the internet pervade every aspect of life, and education is no exception. Many argue that computers and the internet are of vital importance in children’s study, yet others believe that pupils can be taught more effectively in schools with educators. This essay intends to delve deeply into both viewpoints. The writer, however, inclines to the latter perspective.
No doubt, computers and the internet play profound roles when it comes to the way children learn. Many outstanding applications and websites exist to aid children’s study. From educational to puzzle games, from grammar apps to academic lessons apps all are aimed at children, and these apps can help develop a child’ competencies in various areas, including math, vocabulary, history, logical thinking, and so on. These applications make learning more entertaining, easier, and faster than traditional methods like oral lectures or textbook lessons. Take YouTube Kids for example. This is exclusively made and curated for children. YouTube Kids provides students with educational videos and entertainment contents to motivate and enhance young minds.
Many others, on the other hand, argue that students can learn more efficaciously with educators in school settings. They argue that an educator is more than just a dispenser of knowledge. An educator also acts as a mentor, a guide, and an inspiration for children, a role that cannot be replaced by technology. Taking soft skills into account, such as critical thinking, time management, problem-solving attitude, decision making, and so forth, a child needs a human teacher to learn that as computers and the internet cannot teach them these human competencies. It is somewhat true that computers and the internet are assisting children in their learning and they are playing an important role in the areas of education. But, as of now, they do not have the power to teach more effectively than teachers because human interaction cannot be replaced by computers and the internet, and human competencies cannot be taught by technology of any kind.
In conclusion, while computers and the Internet play a crucial role in the learning of children, the writer thinks that students, in schools with teachers, learn more effectively as technology cannot develop human skills that are fundamentals for effective learning.
