You should say:
and explain how you felt when you were making this choice.
[You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.]
Model Answer:
Life is full of choices, so much so that sometimes we don’t hesitate to become adventurous in making our choices just as I had become about 4 years ago when I made a tough choice about my career.
So, after finishing my university studies about 4 years ago, my family naturally expected me to get a job and get on with life. I had also thought all along the same way, but it suddenly occurred to me that there had to be something more in life rather than spending a very significant part of our life in studying and then spending the rest of our life in doing some kind of jobs. So, I held myself from getting a job right away and instead decided to start a small business.
My whole family tried to convince me otherwise, but I kept telling them that I wanted to see if I had any entrepreneurship skills in me before starting a job. So, I started a little café at a domestic airport in my country. After a while, I noticed to my pleasant surprise that my business was running really well. In fact, I started to make a significant profit right after the first month. One year later, of course, I got myself a job, but starting a coffee shop was one of the best choices I’ve made in my life because I already had a substantial amount of money (substantial, at least, for a young guy like me back then) in my pocket even before starting a so-called job!
Anyway, when I was making that choice, I felt both nervous and excited at the same time, as I was going out of my comfort zone. I also felt that we have only one life, and so we should never shy away from taking calculated risks, especially, if we wanted to have a sound financial future in life, and if we wanted to explore our abilities a little.
