Thank you very much for this nice topic. Call it a “law of the land” or “law for the land”, every country should have an effective law and land management system in place to protect its land resources from getting destroyed due to unabated greed and shallow interests of its citizens. And, it is even more true for a country with an ever-increasing population and shrinking land resources at a very alarming rate. Thank God that my country understands the danger, and hence has recently introduced a law prohibiting indiscriminate use of paddy fields to build residences, industries and brick-fields. I firmly stand behind this important law and encourage myself and others to follow it strictly.
I like this law mainly because it duly recognizes the fact that our land resources are what we depend on for all of our needs for every second of our lives. And, if we don’t take good care of our lands by utilizing its resources properly, there is every reason to believe that our next generations will be left only with “barren lands” with no “resources” on them to keep our children alive. Just imagine a scenario for a minute where we don’t have enough lands to grow our foods. How frightening of a scenario would it be if we suddenly find out that we don’t have any forests/trees to provide us with enough oxygen? After all, trees can’t be grown in air. Can they?
How can we expect to be safe from an earthquake if we destroy our hills and mountains for petty interests? The questions and issues, mentioned above, are very crucial to our planet’s survival, and the law intends to deal with them accordingly. This law also tells us that we have only one inhabitable planet, and we protect our planet by protecting its land resources without destroying it or changing it at our discretion.
