and explain why you think this person is so good at doing this.
[You will have to talk about the topic for one to two minutes. You have one minute to think about what you are going to say. You can make some notes to help you if you wish.]
Model Answer:
Some people are naturally gifted to do things better than others. But there are many others who do things better than others because of their sheer hard works, dedication and determination, and my friend just seems to be one of them.
This friend of mine is a Math wizard, who teaches mathematics to high school students, and when I say “math wizard”, I mean to say that he doesn’t only solve all kinds of math problems, but also makes them look really easy. But, of course, he wasn’t really this kind of math wizard from his early student life, and I know this because we both have studied together from high school until finishing our university studies.
Anyway, in the beginning, this particular friend of mine wasn’t only scared of math—any kind of math that is – but also “hated” math. But then, something happened to him along the way after finishing his high school – he got denied from an internship position because of his rather poor grade in math. And it was from that time, he became a changed student who dedicated all his time and efforts in learning mathematics after studying other subjects. He became so determined to do well in math that at one point, after finishing his high school, he even travelled more than a few kilometres a day on his bicycle to learn math from a tutor. Not to mention, of course, his hard works and determination finally paid dividends as he became one of the top 5 students in our math class with the highest scores in math. And by the time he finished his university as a science student, he had become the best math student with the record highest score.
Anyway, this friend of mine is so good at teaching math, primarily because he wanted to prove a thing or two not only to others but also to himself. Besides, he is so good at his job also because he eventually started enjoying playing with math.
