Model Answer:

Different nations have different rules of behaviour for children. In some countries, children have to comply with strict rules of behaviour while in other countries, they are allowed to do almost whatever they wish to do. I put forward the view that tight restrictions would bring adverse effect on children and they should be given freedom until and unless the freedom becomes the reason for their misfortune.

It is true that children are susceptible to adverse impact from the environment around them as they are inexperienced, naive and pure. Parents, therefore, play a vital role in inculcating good behaviour and alerting them of trouble through tight control. Children, very often, cannot sort right from wrong, which in turn can misguide them and cause harm to them. In such cases, children ought to obey the true spirits of parents’ set of rules to get the best outcome and build the habit. For instance, many children would prefer to eat fast food and play video games most of the time if given the freedom which is often the reason for their poor health and poor academic performance. If parents do not intercede, this would ruin children’s health and spirit.

But, I also believe that children who are always controlled rigorously can not cope with the problems themselves. In fact, children who are forced to follow strict rules and regulations by their elders are more likely to become vulnerable. This is the primary factor which causes the potential lack of problem-solving skills. Children should confront issues and difficulties by themselves without their parents being around to help all the time. For this reason, parents should encourage their children to encounter harsh realities at early ages, instead of sticking to strict rules. Finally, research shows that the youngers who enjoy freedom in childhood become more creative in adulthood.

In conclusion, parents should relax the rules for their offsprings so that they can learn from their mistakes. It is my belief that children ought to relish freedom so as to be more confident and self-reliant and parents should intervene only when they are the possibility of big mistakes and harms.
