Model Answer:
Since time immemorial, groups and individuals have strived for utopias but all have failed to date. They were split on the form of the perfect society. However, I believe that civil liberty is the mainstay that a society must have to be considered ideal.
Civil liberty is a matter of utmost importance in an ideal society. In a perfect society, people can enjoy the right to believe and think what they wish. While an individual believes one thing, this does not mean that others should not be allowed to subscribe to another belief. Civil liberties, however, do not only consist of freedom of belief and opinion but also include the right to speech and protest. If an individual or a group is discontent about something, they should have the right to voice their concern without fear. These freedoms create a perfect society where an individual’s religion, race, sexual orientation, and ideology are not judged, but rather are respected and accepted.
To achieve an ideal society, people should transform the existing political structure into a structure in which individuals can meet their needs and secure the necessary welfare without infringing the rights and freedoms of others. In fact, people should embrace the principles of democracy, free choice, and free will. Apart from this, they ought to select leaders who are only reflectors of the general will. Finally, individuals should act in ways of virtue and benevolence and be concerned more with the common good than their own interests.
All things considered, it seems reasonable to assume that civil liberty is the cornerstone of an ideal society. To attain a perfect society, however, people should introduce a revolutionary political structure in which no one has power over another citizen.
