Model Answer:
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I just came across your advertisement in one of our national daily newspapers in which you have asked for someone to help you at your home for a few hours a day. I am writing to offer my help.
The advertisement also says that you need help the next summer which is exactly what I am looking for. In fact, next summer, I hope to do some kind of part-time job in order to earn some extra cash. Now, here are the types of things I would be able to do in order to help you. Well, first of all, I can mow the lawn for you with the little mowing machine I have. I can also wash your car. Apart from doing all these things, I can also do some grocery shopping for you once in a while.
Now about why I need that extra cash, I want it because I will have to buy my own laptop to help me with my university studies and lessons. For your further information, I will be available pretty much every day from 7 am to 7 pm except on Tuesday.
Yours sincerely,
Mendiz Murali
Model Answer 2:
Dear Mrs Barrett,
I am writing in response to your advertisement seeking assistance in your home for a few hours a day next summer. I am interested in the position and believe I could be of great help to you.
As for the tasks I can assist you with, I am experienced in general housekeeping duties such as cleaning, organising, and laundry. I am also proficient in meal preparation and can cook a variety of dishes. In addition, I am skilled in running errands and managing household supplies and groceries.
The reason I am interested in this work is twofold. Firstly, I genuinely enjoy providing assistance and support to others. I find great satisfaction in contributing to a well-maintained and organised home environment. Secondly, I believe this opportunity would be a valuable experience for me to improve my English language skills. As a non-native speaker, interacting with you in an English-speaking setting would be a wonderful chance for me to practice and enhance my language abilities.
Regarding my availability, I will be available to work on weekdays from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM, for approximately three hours each day. However, I regret to inform you that I will not be available on weekends as I have prior commitments during that time.
Thank you for considering my application. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss the position further and provide any additional information you may require. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
Sofia Alison
