Model Answer:
Dear Spencer,
My name is Robin, and I am John Smith’s cousin from the United Kingdom. I am hoping to visit Sydney next summer and when I heard that John has a friend who lives in Sydney, I thought I could write to you and get introduced. Smith said that you would not mind answering some of my questions regarding my upcoming trip to Australia.
I will get a month-long vacation after I finish my first year at my university. I have decided to spend the vacation in a foreign city and chose Sydney for that. I have always wanted to enjoy a trip to Australia and I would love to visit the Sydney Opera House. The stunning architecture and excellent programme of events make it Sydney’s number one destination and I am eagerly waiting to be there. Besides, I might follow one of the test series between Australia and England cricket teams which is supposed to start next summer in Sydney.
I need some suggestions from you and I hope you can make some time to answer. Where should I stay when I am in Sydney? I don’t have the luxury to stay in a rated hotel. I would prefer something budget friendly. What are the best places to be and exciting things to do in Sydney? Since you have been there for a long, you can give me a realistic picture of such activities. Finally, please update me about the weather in summer there. This would help me decide to pack my stuff.
I would love to hear from you and even can meet you next summer for lunch. Smith said hello.
Best wishes,
Robin
