GT Writing Task 1 (Letter Writing) Sample # 44
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
You work at home and have a problem with a piece of equipment that you use for your job.
Write a letter to the shop or company which supplied the equipment. In your letter:
- describe the problem with the equipment
- explain how this problem is affecting your work
- say what you want the shop or company to do
Write at least 150 words.
You do NOT need to write your own address.
Begin your letter as follows:

I am writing with regard to the problem with my laptop that I purchased a few months ago from your store. As it comes with a 2-year warranty, I am hoping that you would fix my laptop as soon as possible.
A week ago, while I was working on my laptop to finish building a website for one of my clients, it stopped working and I had to restart it. This same problem reappeared a day later and now it is happening more frequently than before. Restarting the laptop does not work as it used to be and I am completely stuck.
I work from home as a freelancer and this laptop is utterly important for my work. My reputation to my client is on the line and I cannot do anything without my laptop. Unfortunately, I do not have an alternative computer in which I can work for the time being. Moreover, I have several files and tools on my laptop that I frequently use to finish my projects.
Since I do not have access to the IT team to check my computer, I need you to send someone immediately to fix it. In case of any difficulty in commuting to my place, I can bring the laptop to your store. Please let me know what suits you best.
