Model Answer:
Companies, perhaps always, advertise their products to be the best in the market, and it is becoming increasingly common these days for such businesses to emphasize the novelty of their products. I believe that it is a marketing strategy to win the customers and increase sales. It is undoubtedly a negative trend.
Increasing consumer demands through advertisement is a marketing strategy, and businesses often focus on claiming something new and unique about their products to gain customer trust solely to increase sales and profitability. Sometimes their claim has some basis; for instance, when Apple Inc. released iPhone 3, it was truly a revolution in the mobile phone industry, or when Tesla started to market electronic cars, it was a game-changer. But it is common for cellphone or car manufacturers to release almost the same product with big claims about novelty. This is done with the intention to triumph the customers’ psychology and increase sales.
This trend is negative mainly because the claims made in such adverts are not the whole truth, and they are intended to deceive consumers. Wise consumers have become tired of watching companies claiming their products to be the best and stand out from the crowd over the years. It creates apathy towards such advertisements by experienced consumers while alluring new customers to buy something that they do not need. It leads to frustration and disinterests toward advertisers and brands due to the exploitative method used by them in such adverts.
In conclusion, advertising new and unique features of a product is basically a marketing strategy by businesses to boost their sales. Since these advertisements are often made to exaggerate and deceive customers, it is a negative trend.
